Mukeshwar Murugaiyan Biography

I'm a dentist from a family with strong musical moorings. My father was 'Sangeetha Kala Rathna', 'Kaanji Kamakodi peedam aasthana Vidwan' Sri N.Murugaiyan, a renowned Carnatic Mridangist, percussionist, Music Composer in Pondicherry. I have learned Carnatic music from 'Pudhuvai Kalaimaamani' Sri S.Gopakumar. I have been working in music field since I was 7 years old. I can play more than 15 musical instruments including Mridangam, Arumukhanam, Tabla, Dholak, Ghatam, Kanjira, Morsing, Harmonium, Keyboard, Drums, Rhythm Pad, Pambai, Nagara, Udukkai, Urumy, Parai, Thavil. I have performed many concerts through Puducherry Government Arts and Culture Department and through the Puducherry Government Department of Tourism. On behalf of The Government of Puducherry, I have organised programs for creating awareness on Plastics and Dengue to the public. I have set a New World Record for continuous playing of 'Parai Music' for 10 Hours without break, urging everyone to learn the traditional music of our Tamils and proclaim the music to be 'Mangala Isai'.
